FC Indiana Under-20 players may be young, but they are certainly not going to be intimidated by any opponent in 2016.
The Lionesses host the WPSL U-20 national champions Motor City FC in WPSL U-20 home opener May 21 at Newton Park.
Justin Crew’s side may have an uphill task ahead of them against some of the top college players in the country, but midfielder Sammi Bugay says the team’s track record at Newton Park means that optimism is rife.
“We are young (average age 16) but playing at home we will be ready,” she told FCIndiana.org. “We have not lost at home last season and we look to continue that trend this season.
Motor City’s quality will be on full display as their squad includes Hannah Jones and Kelly Sweeney.

Sweeney, a University of Michigan freshman, helped Motor City FC to WPSL U-20 national championship last season.

In 2015, Motor City beat FC Indiana 2-1 in Detroit, the two teams tied 1-1 at Newton Park, and Motor City defeated FC Indiana 1-0 in Edmond, Oklahoma on the way to winning the WPSL U-20 national title.

“Motor City FC is very good,“ said coach Justin Crew. “We are more experienced then last season and will do our best to qualify for the WPSL final four.“
