Northwich 3rds 43 v Bowden 3rds 12
The score does not reflect the game. It was not the runaway victory for Northwich as the score suggests. It was a very closely fought game and for a neutral person watching it must have been a very exciting and entertaining game to watch.
The first try came to Northwich after 5-10 minutes scored by Druguta. Bowden then took grip of the game and scored two tries and one conversion. Just before the end of the first half Lewis Lomas scored one of his typical tries by breaking through Bowden's defence leaving them for dead.
The try was converted by Harry Naylor.
Half time score was 12 all.
The start of the second half was equally balanced and could have gone either way, both teams contested very strongly. Bowden were passing the ball along their line KyleClarke,
a Northwich Colt, intercepted the pass well in the Northwich half, ran the length of the pitch to score a magnificent try which was converted again by Harry Naylor. Shortly afterwards Lewis Lomas received the ball, sidestepped several players, tackled to the ground, somersaulted, landed on his feet and scored his second try under the posts. Again Harry converted. There was no doubt that these two tries did make a difference to the game but Bowden did not give up. Northwich then scored from a penalty.
The next try from powerhouse Sweeny, who thoroughly deserved the try for all his hard work during the game with another Harry conversation. The final try was scored by Raulo on the far side of the pitch, with need I say more another Harry conversion.
This game had senior debuts for Harry Naylor and Kyle Clarke and club debut for Ruiairi Long, all welcome editions to the team.
There was a good partnership between Taylor, Kelsall, Johnson and Lomas.
All 20 players made a great effort to the victory but 'man of the match' had to go to Peter Naylor who was everywhere on the pitch.
A fantastic start to the season and let's keep the momentum going.
