Luke Mallett feels Witham Town can keep moving up the table

““Confidence is a big thing and we have it now.” Luke Mallett

HAVING got themselves out of the Bostik League division north relegation zone, Luke Mallett feels Witham Town can now turn their sights on moving up the table.Mallett scored from the penalty spot to secure a 1-1 draw for Witham in their pre-Christmas action against high-flying Coggeshall Town on Friday.

It was a result that ensured Witham extended their recent good form and a run of three wins and two draws means they have been able to put an 11-game winless league run firmly behind them now.So Mallett feels sights should be set upwards rather than over the shoulder.

He said: “I think we’re definitely good enough to be safely in mid-table.

“That was what we set our expectations at and, after the tricky start we had, that will be a great achievement for us now“We have always had good spells in games, but things are turning for us now and confidence is there.

“We had to grind it out (against Coggeshall) but it’s just been a really good month for us.
“Three wins, two draws and three clean sheets – we have to be happy and we’re off the bottom of the league now.

“I think the difference is that we’ve just clicked as a team now.

“A few players have left and others have come in but the base is still there and we have clicked now.

“There is an understanding with each other, we have gelled and we’re starting to turn things around.

“Confidence is a big thing and we have it now.

“At the start of the season, we were playing well but not getting the rub of the green and it took one game for us to get the win and get into our stride.

“Things are starting to fall for us now and that’s all down to confidence.”
