Matlock v Basford on Saturday

By Neil McGowan

Basford United make the short trip to Matlock Town on Saturday (3.0). Community are also away, to Kirton Brickworks (2.0).

The First team will be in good heart following their two wins last week.

Looking forward to the game Martin Carruthers commented:
“The team and squad for Matlock will be the same as for last Saturday unless we pick up any knocks or niggles in training this week.

“Matlock are a much improved side from earlier in the season and despite recent form we know Frecks has got them very organised both in and out of possession. They don’t concede many goals and are very dangerous from set plays.

“We had them watched at the weekend and they were very unlucky against one of the top sides in Nantwich so we know how difficult this game will be.

“We have now broken our own 2019 duck and with two wins on the bounce I’m sure the lads will be full of confidence and raring to go.”

Ground address: Causeway Lane, Matlock, Derbyshire DE4 3AR.
The ground is just 500 yards from the town centre, so parking is very limited.
Car parking is available at the following locations:-
The Station – DE4 3NA, Bank Road – DE4 3NN, Lido Car Park – DE4 3NL

Admission: Adults £10, Concessions £6.50, Students (with valid student card) £5, Children (Between 18 and 10) £3, Children under 10 free

This will be the third meeting between the sides this season. At Greenwich Avenue in September we won 6-0, Jack Thomas giving us an interval lead. Second half goals came from Courey Grantham, Matt Thornhill, a Nat Watson penalty and two from Kole Lambert. In October a Zak Goodson goal gave us a 1-0 win in the Second Round of the Integro League Cup, again at Greenwich Avenue.

In Notts Senior League Division One, Kirton Brickworks are five points and two places behind Community, who will be keen to get back to winning ways after their disappointing cup defeat last weekend.
