*apologies to Alcester the score was 49-12. Browny had the score off the ref as this. Match report ha been updated with correct score.

Bedworth Extras RFC played away at Alcester RFC in the first meeting of league action. Alcester 2s losing their opening game and Bedworth having tough time in cup, this was game for both teams to put things right.
Bedworth started the match with good intensity, receiving kickoff they went through the phases and stretched the Alcester defense. Alcester pack started the game the strongest winning the scrum hits. With Alcester stuck in their 22m, Bedworth piled on the pressure, going through good phases making yards with powerful runs from the forwards, to eventually break the deadlock on 10 minutes with Stuart McArthur crossing the line for first score-7-0 Connor Johnson converting.
Bedworth started well from the kickoff running forward through the phases and whipping the ball out wide to unfortunately have it stop by poor hands from Simon Wilson. From the resulting scrum Alcester cleared there lines straight to Connor at full back, who used his pace to run about 15m just short of Alcester 22m. Bedworth forwards recycled ball well with Danny Coleman giving nice crash ball to Sam croft who smashed through two tackles to score under the posts Bedworth 14-0 Connor conversion.
Bedworth were on top, Alcester couldn’t get out their own half with fast, hard tackling putting pressure on the Alcester attack forcing them to drop the ball. Bedworth were now starting to dominate the scrum with some lovely pace and power being shown from number 8 Rob Poulton making yards and Danny Coleman with the support being able to recycle quick ball for the backs to build good platform. Bedworth got penalty and chose to kick getting the 3 points 17-0. Bedworth received the kick and again were going through the phases into Alcester 22m. With Danny seeing the gap picked the ball from the ruck, broke two tackles to cross the line. 22-0 conversion missed.
Further pressure from Bedworth seen Danny again pick the ball from the ruck making another good break to score his second try-27-0 conversion missed.
Connor Johnson was having good day from fullback loving running the ball back always making yards. Connor was rewarded with try-breaking three tackles to score 32-0 conversion missed halftime.
Second half started same way with Bedworth forwards making holes and creating good platform for the backs to build on. Bedworth were rewarded again when going through the phases, Sam Croft holding off two tackles to get pass away to Aaron Burton for his first try. 39-0 Callum conversion.
Alcester started to play and put pressure on Bedworth defense forcing penalties which they were able to take into Bedworth 5m. Bedworth defense was holding even forcing Alcester back behind the 22m. Bedworth with good defense managed to steal the ball but lack of concentration allowed Alcester to pick up the loose ball and score. 39-7
Bedworth hit straight back again with great carries from the forwards, allowing backs quick ball. Callum Abbott threw two nice dummies to score in corner 44-7 conversion missed.
Alcester stepped up again with their lively scrumhalf making good breaks and setting up quick ball for their forwards to keep momentum going forward. Another lapse in concentration seen Alcester pick up from ruck two metres out to drive over for deserved score-44-12
Bedworth replied and scored another try, again with good forwards work setting up the backs to get quick ball wide sending Aaron Burton into corner for his second try 49-12 conversion missed. That was Bedworths last score of the afternoon. Final score being 49-12.

Some big performances to please the coaches with Callum Abbott bossing the number 10, Connor Johnson causing problems with his electric running. Rob Pouton making storming runs from the scrums causing havoc, Sam Croft making good line breaks, Lee walker was strong in defense and made nice breaks in attack. Also a mention to Lee Tonks coming on at number 8, with crowd thinking Dalligio was playing.

Man of the match went to Danny Coleman for his brace of tries and work rate around the park. Dannys work rate was tremendous and looked natural at playing at 9.

Dick of the match goes to Simon Wilson for not being able to catch anything, leaving the ball for their first try and missing tackle for the second. Might just keep to the reporting!

Coaches comments
Lee Tonks “Everyone played well. Forwards and backs linked up well. Season looks good for the extras if we keep the numbers up”
Ryan Jenkins “The first game for the extras I was pleasantly surprised. The forwards did what I asked of them and the backs stepped up there game and looked sharp. What more could you ask for as a coach”

Good result today. The work continues training Tuesday from 7pm. Lets move forward to Bromyard and Coventry Saracens next Saturday.
