Sin Bins Introduced For 2019-20

Spectators in the new season commencing at Victoria Park may well see 'new' signals from referees as the FA mandate Sin Bins to operate from July 1st 2019.

The objective is to change players behaviour, contribute to the 'Respect Agenda' and the sin bin sanction, 10 minutes off the field play's active time, i.e. excludes injury time, stoppages, rolls over into the second half and will only apply to Dissent which is a subjective offence applied by the referee's opinion.

The scope of this new sanction will include a 'totting up' procedure during the season and it is possible for a player to collect two sin periods during a game and then incur an automatic ban. Goal keepers are included, sin binned players may not be substituted during the 10 minutes.

Spectators will see a yellow card shown to a player and the ref pointing to the bin..........The yellow card will also be shown to a player as the traditional caution for other offences. Some players may in a game be shown two yellow cards, i.e. One for the sin bin & the second for a caution, this however is not then mean a red card !

Players can 'warm up' on the touch line & return to the game during play at the referees signal, when the 10 minutes is up. (On the refs watch)

Burscough's fixtures in the FA Cup will not be subjected to this new Sin Bin process.
