East Surrey HardRiders / DCC TT Championship

By Neil James

A stormy start to the TT Championship...

The 55th running of the HardRiders event saw winds gusting up to 50mph. Earlier competitors had the added obstacle of a large tree across a road in Rusper to contend with. Unfortunately, as the weather was deteriorating further, the decision was taken. not to start the final 18 riders.

Junior Amy Monkhouse (Story Racing) and Chris Holmes (Twickenham CC) were the winners of the female and male TT competitions, with Mark Aldred (Kingston Wheelers CC) and Rosamund Bradbury (Sigma Sports) the quickest in the road bike category.

Ryan Peirce was the best placed Dorking CC rider in 7th in the Road bike category, with a time of 1:21:20 (22.1mph), and so takes an early lead in the club TT Championship. Anthony Smith is in 2nd place, with Mark Yetman 3rd and last years winner Morten Andersen in 4th. The next qualifying event for the Club TT Championship is the Club Box Hill TT on 12th May
