Guilsfield came away from Gresford with a hard fought point with a last minute strike from Adam Jenkins.
Guilsfield travelled looking for a morale boosting performance after a tough week. The players certainly stepped up to the plate in a niggly match played on a lively surface. We went into the match without the suspended Sam Litchfield and this enforced changes in defence and midfield.
Guilsfield began the game in a bright fashion and were undone by close offside decisions throughout the first period. Gresford opened the scoring from the penalty spot, with 'keeper Mike Jones adjudged to have impeded a Gresford player from a corner kick. MacCarter slotting home the kick on 36 mins. This proved to be Gresford's only strike on goal in the first period. (HT 1-0)
Guilsfield came out with intent in the second half and got back into the game on 52 mins with Aaron Edwards glancing home Adam Jenkins' free kick. Guilsfield were looking good to gain a positive result but were outdone on 62 mins with a loose headed clearance landing at the feet of Jack Chaloner who struck the back of the net. Guilsfield re-grouped and pressed on for the equaliser. A couple of changes made to freshen things up in the final 15 minutes and Chris Cathrall popped up on the right flank in the final minute to feed Adam, who cooly slotted under the keeper to get a deserved equaliser.
