Boro manager Steve Baker commented on the 21 year old strikers move, "Although I’m very disappointed to lose him at such a crucial part of the season I fully understand his decision which was probably one he couldn’t turn down. Kearney scored 24 goals, making 28 appearances in his four month spell at Earlsmead.
Baker continued " His goal scoring in his time with us has been a key part of our current league position and I’ve already started the search for his replacement. I’m confident of an announcement early next week."
