Welsh Cup run comes to an end

A day that will live long in the memory

Llan first team played in their biggest match in their history yesterday against League of Wales side Bangor City. The game had been in doubt due to the heavy rainfall but Alan Williams did 2 pitch inspections and deemed it playable. The pitch was certainly a leveller and made for more of a battle.

Llan started brightly and were ahead on 10 minutes through a Iwan Matthews penalty after Marc Griffiths was fouled as rounding the keeper. Bangor were on level terms within 5 minutes. It was an evenly contested game with the heavy surface making football difficult. The visitors took the lead on the half hour from another cross. This was how it remained until half time with Llan holding their own.

The second half was once again a tight affair but the visitors extended their lead on 55 minutes. Was this where Bangor would dominate? No way - the home side re-doubled their efforts and created a couple of good chances for Tom and Iwan. Unfortunately these weren’t capitalised upon. Bangor were then reduced to 10 men with 20 minuets remaining. Despite lots of effort and commitment no real chances were created until 2 minutes from time when Dan Graham scored after good work from Iwan.
Unfortunately on the stroke of full time Dan Kelly was sent off for 2 yellow cards.

The players and management can be very proud of their efforts. We matched our opponents on all fronts.
I would like to thank everyone who helped in any way before or on the day. As a club too we can be very proud of our efforts - we showed off everything we are good at.
I would also like to thank everyone who came along and supported on the day. Your support on the day was second to none - diolch yn fawr iawn i chi god.

It will be a day that will live long in the memory.
