Llan were back in action after a week's break and they travelled to Ruthin. Llan started the game brightly once again. Inside the first minute Iwan Matthews was fouled. He got up and took the free kick which was saved and spilled by the keeper. Marc Griffiths followed up but the keeper reacted quickly to make the save. With our next attack Iain Edmunds crossed from the left for Marc to head wide. On 15 minutes some good build up play lead to a Chris Aitken shot being saved by the home keeper. Jimmy Hayns was then called on twice to keep the scoreline goalless. On 40 minutes Llan took the lead with the ball crossed from the left and a deflection from a home defender put the ball past the home keeper. On the stroke of half time Jimmy was called into action once again, this time an excellent save when the centre forward was clean through on goal.
Half Time Ruthin 0 Llan 1
The opening of the second half was a tight affair. On 58 minutes the home side were awarded a penalty with Glenn Evans deemed to have fouled the home attacker. The penalty was duly dispatched - 1-1. However with our next attack Llan scored what proved to be the decisive goal. Iain Edmunds was fouled and he crossed the ball to the far post where Tom Bailey rose to power the header in. The remainder of the game saw Llan penned back in their own half. Ruthin were pouring forward now. On 70 minutes Jimmy was called into action once again with a good save from a header. On 75 minutes Jimmy was beaten by a free kick but the ball crashed into the crossbar. There was some disciplined defending from Llan to repel the relentless attacks. On 85 minutes the home again struck the cross bar and with practically the final kick of the game there was a goal line scramble which eventually saw the home side blaze over the bar when well placed.
