After the effort from last week away to Bontnewydd with a threadbare squad. We had a number of experience players back in the squad and with Dave Baston and Owen Williams making the match day squad for the 1st time this season.
With all-rounder Karl ‘the cat’ Roberts making his Tigers debut in goal, Ows slotting into midfield and Tom Davies coming back into the back four.
The game started well for the Bridge with us controlling the game. Ryan Wood , Dion Williams creating gaps out wide, Andy Wannop chasing every ball. Karl Roberts comfortably collected a couple of long balls and with the vast experience of Richard Evans and Tom Davies marshalling the back four.
Dave Roberts, Gethin Davies and Owain Roberts were in cruise control in midfield winning the majority of the tackles and bringing full back Callum Byng and Dale Owens into the game at every chance, but same as the last couple of games the final ball wasn’t happening.
1st half ended goal-less.
Within 90 seconds of the start of the second half Owain Roberts won the ball in midfield and played a quick one two with Ryan Wood and from all of 30 yards Ows smashed the ball passed the keeper and it hit the inside of the post and into the back of the net.. another worldy of Ows.
Menai Bridge Tigers 1 – 0 Harlech Town
With heads up the boys lifted their game and on 50 mins a corner from the left taken by Dion Williams was floated into the box and a ‘headed one two’ between Ryan Wood and Richard Evans let Ryan head the ball passed the keeper.
Menai Bridge Tigers 2 – 0 Harlech Town
We continued to press and some last ditch tackles form Harlech defenders stopped the Tigers extending the lead.
Fresh legs were introduced
61 mins – Dion Williams replaced by Tim Evans
66 mins – Dale Owens replaced by Owen Williams (debut)
70 mins – Gethin Davies replaced by Tom Parry.
Owen Williams broke down the left and let rip a brilliant effort only for the keeper to make a cracking save. Next chance fell to Tim Evans.. when Tom Parry broke through on the left and whipped in a ball to the far post and with the goal wide open Tim Evans managed to smash the ball over the bar, library and the ball had to be retreated from Menai Deli.
83 mins a corner by Ryan Wood fell to the feet of Dave Roberts and he smashed it into the back of the net…
