Groundsman Delighted with Square after refurb

Winter work paying dividends

“The square is looking in great shape” Martin Tilley - Groundsman

With only a few weeks to go before the start of the season, it's great to see the ground and the newly refurbished square looking so good.

The committee decided to spend a significant amount of money to take the top off (using a fraze mowing technique) to tackle the undulations that had started to appear in the past year or 2.

This process, over seen by Martin Tilley (who was once on the Lords ground staff) left then needing new seed beds with a raking machine before dressing and dragging to try to ensure it remains flat.

The reseeding appears to have worked well and now requires some amount of extra reseeding to the few remaining bare patches. This will be completed next week.

Then its starting to roll in anger prior to the first home game of the season and Martin is confident we will see big improvements this year and possibly even greater benefits the year after.

We look forward to seeing how it plays come the first game of the season and into the summer!
