Southend & Benfleet 3rd XI: 3 (Sarah Conway, Grace Wright, Lesley Tonking)
The 3s headed off to Chelmsford for their penultimate match of the season, keen for a win. And they had a strong start, being awarded a string short corners, one of which Sarah Conway scored from. Midfielder Nicole Rutter battled hard throughout the game and along with Tiggy Francis and Mia Edwards, built up play and set up Grace Wright for another goal, taking them into the break 2-0 up.

The second half was more of the same. Chelmsford did have chances but these were dealt with by defenders Rachel Blades, Anne Johnson, Jordan Woodman and Rebecca Utton. Along with sweeper Lucy Stowe, the S&B backline was impenetrable. Shortly before time, striker and player of the match Lesley Tonking took the ball round several defenders and smacked it past the Chelmsford keeper, giving the visitors a 3-0 victory. The 8th place 3s host midtable Witham for their final match of the season next weekend.
