Another strong performance from men's thirds.

By Mike Rushmere

Some games cancelled for frost but York had cleared the snow off the pitch.

Thirsk travelled to York with a strong squad of 15 against another mid-table team, who had won the first match earlier in the season. Thirsk started fast, dominating possession and territory but finding it difficult to put the opposition keeper under pressure. After a series of air shots and misses, York eventually helped out by turning a shot from Arthur Webster-Jones past their keeper. Shortly afterwards, George Hunt doubled the lead with a good flick from one of many short corners. However, Thirsk tried to force more goals by driving up the middle and dribble through the opposition defence, and York started to create chances themselves, pulling back a goal at a short corner and having another deflected just wide by Owen Williams on the post.
Half time arrived conveniently, the problems were pinpointed and Thirsk started the second half stronger. Ian Foxley was controlling play from central midfield, bringing the wide players back into the game, but the goal to settle the game was proving tough to find. Finally, Ian's shot from a short corner was saved, but injecter Patrick Hunt was on hand to force the ball through the keeper's legs. Further passing interplay in attack and controlled defending opened up more chances; Ben Harrison slid the ball past the keeper for Thirsk's final goal, with Will Norman having earlier hit the post.
Final score York 1 - Thirsk 4
