Saturday 27 April will see two Thrumpton sides battle in out in our final preseason game before our senior sides league campaigns get underway.
The day will begin with a few moments of applause before the start of the game to pay our respects to our much loved Clubman Ray Smithson.
The two sides will be playing for the honour of becoming the first side to win the new inaugural Ray Smithson Trophy.
We are delighted to announce that Ray’s family will be at the game and his wife Jane will present the trophy at the end of the game.
We intend for this to be a full club day with the BBQ fired up and the Bar open all day.
Chairman Mark Priestley said “‘Red’ Ray was not only a great clubman but he was a great friend.
He loved nothing better than watching the Badgers in action especially our youth teams.
He was always encouraging to both Andy Pick and myself when we ran the 3rd team.
I for one will miss him very much.”
We hope that as many people as possible can attend to make the occasion and honour a Thrumpton Legend.
