Tilbury made it four undefeated, with a hard fought draw in a wet and windy conditions at The Frost Hire Stadium. It was Tilbury's first for game for ten days and manager Joe Keith had the luxury of a fully fit squad.
It was a cagey opening as payers adjusted to the conditions and it took until the 13th minute for the first opportunity when Collins crossed Jordan Cox who headed wide.
On 19 Tilbury had their first chance when Lewis Smith cut inside and fired low only to see Harry Palmer make a fine save and push the effort on to the post.
Tilbury had a good period before Hutchinson saw his effort well saved by Rhys Madden, who parried to safety.
Before the break Hutchinson had a chance, but Lewis Jaggs was back on the line and was able to prevent the goal with his head. Kris Newby saw his effort deflected over for a corner.
Early in the second half Newby crossed for Tom Anderson who did not connect fully with his head. On 61 substitute Martin Tuohy got behind the Tilbury defence, but the excellent Ryan Boswell managed to get himself between Tuohy and cleared.
On 72 another substitute Toby Aromolaran had a good chance to break the deadlock when burst into the box, but he attempted to round Palmer who well to stay on his feet and save.
With the match looking as though it was heading towards a goalless draw, Canvey found the net with 5 minutes to go. A corner from the left was twice cleared by Ryan Boswell who nodded Melaugh's effort, but the ball fell to Martin Tuohy who poked home.
The Dockers equalised on the stroke of full time when a corner was only half cleared. The ball was put back in from the left by Toby Aromolaran and tucked away by defender Abdus Salami on the front post who was unmarked.
Canvey did have the ball in the net once more in the 4th minute of injury time when Jolliffe headed home, only to be disallowed by the assistant referee’s flag.
The result sees Tilbury remain on 17th spot. Attention now focuses on two cup games. Bishop Stortford away on Tuesday in the league cup, before welcoming Bedford Town in the FA Trophy on Saturday.
