Game of two halves

TT2007, Troon FC
A friendly game against Troon FC was meant to see how the boys are getting ready for the Manchester trip in two weeks time.
The first half was a good display and both teams made chances with some great defending from both sets of defenders. After some one on one talks this week with some of the team, vast improvement was seen from
Logan Roberts and
Declan Baird. The first half gave a glimmer of what our defenders were like prior to the Drongan game, Communication from
George McClure kept his defenders strong around him. Hadley Duncan gave a solid display in the first half making himself first to a lot of the balls. Liam McIver and
Donny Rorison both gave displays of good defending and working as a unit. The forwards and attacking midfielders had a good first half display, creating chances and running off the ball making a nuisance of them selves to Troon FC.
The second half stated with a couple of changes. Joshua Easton came on for Hadley Duncan and
Matthew Clark on for Kieran Spurling.
The team lost their momentum after the break and the pace of the right wingers for Troon FC was the telling point. unfortunately Joshua did not have the pace to keep the right side attackers at bay and they soon realised this and kept the ball out right to attack Joshua Easton. I felt Joshua needed to come off after 10 minutes as he was letting his head down and this was having a negative impact on himself. A little bit of fitness training this week and Joshua will soon be back to the brick wall defender that he has become over the past year.
Matthew Clark came on to the right wing and was soon in the action. Matthew had a lot of the ball and chances to run at their left backs but lacked the final pass in. Training this week I hope to be able to see Matthews head lift up when running with the ball and put in the crosses faster into the danger zone of the oppositions box.
The second half defending dropped off the pitch into no mans land. All three defenders at one point on the left of their park leaving Troon FC with three players all queuing up to shoot on goal from an area void of Troon Thistle players.
The second half also only had TT2007 with one shot on goal from Jack Wilson who hit the post from a long range effort.
As a team display the first half was OK the second half TT2007 were totally lost of the park.
