This weekend saw members of our junior girls age groups make there way to Sandy Park home of Exeter Chiefs for round 4 of the 2019 Womens 6 Nations. A strong contingent of players, parents and coaches enjoyed a fantastic display of rugby by the Red Roses in their 55-0 thumping of Italy.
With plenty of smiles on faces from our girls throughout the day, the experience gave a great insight into what could be for them and a welcome change from watching the mens game. The girls stuck around after the game to show there support to the Red Roses and were awarded with a great meet and greet pitchside with plenty of photo oppurtuinties for all.
Womens rugby has been growing at rapid rate and we at Avonmouth are proud to offer girls rugby at 3 age grades (13's, 15's and 18's) and boast a womens side. The conveyor belt of youth through any clubs junior ranks to senior is a valuable one within the male dominated game and we hope that what started for us 4 years ago as a trial will help secure the future of womens rugby at Avonmouth for many more years.
