May Saul, RIP

By Ruth Hornby

Club mourns the passing of Brig fan and volunteer, May.

It is with great sadness we need to report the passing of a well loved member of the Brig family, May Saul.

May passed away in the early hours of the morning of Tuesday 28 May following a long illness.

A key member of the Brig family, May started volunteering at the club following the death of husband John, and along with Gerry Lawson, established the club's function catering.

Over the years she kept the Brig faithful and visiting fans fed and watered from our refreshment bar, which is now named 'May's Place' in her honour. No doubt she also had to explain to many visiting fans what a butter pie is!

Her legacy lives on in "May's Place' as her daughter Janice is catering manager, assisted by granddaughter Gemma.

May's funeral will take place at Preston Crematorium at 4pm on Tuesday 11 June 2019, followed by a reception in the clubhouse. Everyone is welcome to join May's family to say goodbye, share stories, memories and have something to eat and raise a glass!

The family have asked for donations to St Catherine's Hospice in lieu of flowers. A cause which was very close to her heart.

RIP May from everyone at Brig.
