U13s Junior Tour away v Winscombe (Sun 14 Apr)

Great weekend with trip to Bristol v Sarries, & triangular tour games.

Triangular tour games hosted at Winscombe Rugby Club in North Somerset, against Winscombe and Ashford (Kent).

Typical tour preparation of two very late nights, long days, unbalanced diet and some strong opposition to contend with. Whilst the scorelines were heavy losses, both very much games of two halves, both first halves walkovers, and the seconds far more competitive. Games were both 15mins each way.

U13s v Ashford - L 1-11 (5-55)
HT - 0-9 (0-45)
FT - 1-11 (5-55). Try from Aaron 1 min into the second half, far more competitive second half 1 try to 2 (5-10).
Make no mistake, Ashford are a very very well organised and strong squad, and also bearing in mind they finished runners up in the main Kent Cup competition for our age group 1 week previously (which was when we found they were on tour to the same place as us, as did they!), this was always going to be a very tough fixture.

U13s v Winscombe - L 2-8 (10-40)
HT - 0-5 (0-25)
FT - 2-8 (10-40); Trys from Oliver.B 5mins into the second half, and Toby 3 mins from time added another far more competitive and evenly matched second half 2 trys to 3 (10-15).

Joint man of the matches for the day awarded to Fraser and George, who simply did not stop working their socks off all morning, richly deserved recognition for all their efforts and tackling everyone that moved.
