Bridgnorth 15 Sandbach 21
All Blacks Lose Tough Game
They say a week in politics is a long time.It also seems that a week in Premier League Rugby is longer still where the Bridgnorth pack with Props Cave and Boyce featuring strongly as joint Men of the Match last week, could turn a victory over 7th placed Nuneaton by 47 point to 10 into a defeat by 8th placed Sandbach by 15 points to 21.
I suppose 5 yellow cards 15 scrummage offences,a penalty try and ending up with unopposed set scrums had something to do with it. Taking say 2 minutes for an offence doesn't leave much proper rugby playing time.!
The game started with Llew Williams
landing a penalty in the first two minutes. Sandbach responded and as Bridgnorth pack twice offended the referee awarded Sandbach a penalty try and Ben Rochelle
got ten minutes in the cooler.
Sandbach then scored an unconverted try to lead 3-15. Another yellow card for Jonah Boyce
closely followed off the field by Joe Cave
and the penalty put Sandbach 3-18 at the break.
A yellow card this time for Sandbach equalled things up a bit,but with hardly any front row left unopposed scrums were played. At least getting the ball on your own put in, gave Gareth Bladen
more possession at last..From a short Lineout Jake Goulson
scored but yet another penalty made the score 8-21 Coming back on, Joe Cave
had a good run and a good kick ahead by Afeeafe Lokotui followed by some deft handling, the Bridgnorth full back scored. Llew Williams
converted to put Bridgnorth back in touch.15-21. At last in the dying embers the ball reached Jordan Burgess
who got within 5metres of the line, but Sandbach escaped.
Bridgnorth gained a losing bonus point at 15-21 but will have to play much better, more disciplined Rugby, on their long trip to Scunthorpe, who are current leaders, next week. The teams drew 21-21 on their visit to the EDG in December.
