On a much warmer Saturday at Brook, the Saturday 2s bowlers all performed extremely well to restrict Blackheath 3s to 102 in 36.3 overs.
Oli Eccles, back from uni in the USA (6 - 3 - 6 - 1), and Pat Suranga (6 - 2 - 11 -1) bowled very tight opening spells and set the tone for the team's performance with the ball. Simon Bennison (9 - 2 - 19 - 1), Ali Shaw (7 - 1 - 34 - 1) and Jacob Audley on debut (5 - 0 - 23 - 1) all kept the pressure on the batsmen picking up valuable wickets. Steve George, also on debut, then finished the innings off with impressive figures (3.4 - 2 - 2 - 4).
After the early loss of David Carpenter, Jacob Audley (22), batting sensibly, and Nick Randall (10), got the innings off to a solid start, before Ali Shaw ripped into the bowling scoring 55* off only 43 balls with four 4s and three 6s to complete the run chase in only 23.2 overs.
As always in league cricket, an excellent team bowling performance setting up the win and giving the batters some freedom to play their shots!
