Having claimed their first points of the season with victory last time out against South Ribble Rabbitohs, the Gladiators came from behind in horrendous conditions with strong winds and rain throughout the game.
Once again it was Sam Hudson who proved the match-winner, the forward powering across for the decisive score in the second half to give Chester the points.
Saddleworth led for much of the contest but tries from centre Bryn Hargreaves, loose forward George O'Brien and half back pairing Adam Kirby and Mark Kingsley kept the hosts in touch with Andrew Bowles landing three conversions.
With the game entering the final stages, Hudson went over to put the Gladiators ahead and Chester's dogged defence held firm under late pressure from the visitors.
