The Bluebirds left the seaside with a deserved three points thanks to a Nat Jarvis goal just before the hour mark.
Weston started on the front foot but despite creating chances they lacked a potent threat up front.
Jennison Myrie-Williams set the tone as early as the fourth minute as he shot wide.
Will Puddy then dropped Jarred Welch’s cross but gathered at the second attempt. George Nurse’s ninth minute cross was blocked as was Welch’s follow-up shot.
Alex Bray, on loan from Rotherham United, then found Welch but his attempt hit the side netting.
As the Bluebirds looked to hit Weston on the counter one such move in the twelfth minute saw Jarvis go through one on one but keeper Luke Purnell did well to stick out an arm to deflect his shot and a covering defender cleared the loose ball.
Two minutes later Dean Evans’ thirty five yard shot was safely held by Purnell.
On the quarter hour mark Josh Smile appeared to be brought down in the area but despite appeals no penalty was awarded.
On twenty eight minutes Nick McCootie saw his shot blocked by the Seagulls defence.
Welch’s free kick went straight to Puddy whilst ten minutes before the break a cross from the right evaded everyone leaving Welch with just Puddy to beat from inside the six yard area but he blazed wide.
Before the break Alex Byrne shot wide for the hosts whilst McCootie’s shot was blocked at the near post by Purnell.
In the forty fifth minute Jack Compton’s corner saw Will Richards head over.
After the break Chippenham came more into the game with a trip on Smile in the box again failing to earn a penalty whilst Kieran Parselle’s fifty first minute free kick saw Jarvis’ acrobatic overhead kick go narrowly wide.
The Bluebirds scored the decisive goal on fifty nine minutes when Compton’s inswinging cross saw Jarvis glance a deft header past Purnell.
As Weston brought on three attacking substitutes they went close when Marlon Jackson won the ball in the area and his shot on the turn was well-saved by Puddy.
On seventy eight minutes a superb Compton pass sent substitute Karnell Chambers racing clear but he stumbled and the chance went begging.
Late chances for both sides saw Weston substitute Jake Lee blaze wide whilst Jarvis touched over a ball from Smile and Myrie-Williams headed over at a Weston corner. The result saw Weston rooted to the bottom of National South whilst Chippenham moved up to ninth.
