Great End to Successful Season

Falkland 245 for 6 in 40 Overs
(B Strachan 80, S Campbell 73, G Watson 49)

Leith FAB 151 all out in 30 Overs
(T Kemp 35, Zafar 35, Hadi 28 not out, S Meikle 4 for 39)

Falkland won by 94 runs.

At Carlton in Edinburgh on Saturday, Falkland won the Cricket Scotland Challenge Cup, beating Leith FAB by 94 runs.

Inserted by Leith in difficult autumnal conditions, Falkland struggled at first but were indebted to captain Stuart Campbell who scored 73 and Graeme Watson who scored 49 before Ben Strachan came in and effectively batted Leith out of the game with a quick-fire 80 in 36 balls, including 5 sixes.

Although facing a daunting total of 245, Leith started well and for a while kept up with the run rate, but good bowling from Lyle Robertson and Steven Meikle in particular pegged them back before Ben Strachan mopped up the tail.

On top of winning the Strathmore Union and a good run in the Village Cup, this makes it a very successful season for Falkland, and Saturday's success was all the more significant because they did it without professional Harsha Cooray and Overseas Amateur Darren Pearce both of whom have now gone home. It was a good way to finish what has been a very successful season.
