GCA – NEW BUILDING SOCIETY 2ND DIVISION 40-OVERS COMPETITION FINAL MATCH REPORT – SATURDAY 22ND APRIL 2017

Transport Sports Club (TSC) Defeated Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) by 10 runs at the GCC Ground To Win Their First Senior Title After Several Years

TSC batting first scored a very competitive 182 runs all out in 36.1 overs; Oslyn Barton scored 42 runs, Rafael Singh 41 and Adrian Hinds 26.

Bowling for DCC; Dennis Squires took 3 wickets for 15 runs from his allotted 8 overs, Lyndon Lyght took 3 for 47 and Carlton Jacques took 2 for 28.

In reply DCC was dismissed for 172 runs in 36.1 overs; Dexter George scored 42 runs, Carlton Jacques made 28 and Lyndon Lyght 12.

Bowling for TSC; Rafael Singh took 2 wickets for 27 runs, Shaun Massiah and Charwayne McPherson also took 2 wickets each.

Rafael Singh was adjudged the Man Of The Match.

The presentation ceremony following the final saw the following awards presented:

Azeem Azeez (TSC) - zone stage best bowling figures 8-26 against University of Guyana;

Dwain Dick - bowler with most wickets in the zone stage with 17 wkts at 7.8 RPW (Stefan Wilson of GCC also took 17 wkts but Dick had the better average;

Shaheed Mohamed (Everest) - batsman with the highest score zone stage 131 versus Sophia;

Shaheed Mohamed (Everest) - batsman with the most runs in the zone stage – 309 runs at an average of 61.8.

Chemroy Kendall (TSC) - Best fielder in zone stage; 8 dismissals (6 catches, 2 stumpings);

Shaheed Mohammed (Everest) MVP Zone A - 309 runs and 11 wickets;

Timothy McAlmont (GCC) MVP Zone B - 221 and seven catches;

Oslyn Batson batsman with the highest score in the final;

Dennis Squires best bowling performance in the final;

Cowen Ismond best fielder in the final (2 catches);

Rafael Singh man-of-the match in the final.

Winners collected G$100,000, a trophy and medals for each player while the runners up claimed G$60,000, a trophy and medals for each player.
