Brunsdon hits 80 as Hartfield win.

A personal best score of 80 gave Hartfield the advantage against Southbourne. In a game reduced to 30 overs due to the weather Hartfield were put into bat first. A cold early May day, the overnight rain made batting conditions difficult. The opening pair of Emery and Turner had looked like getting the home side off to a good start, before Emery was the first to fall to a ball the kept low with the score on 25. Simpson, Carroll and Lockheart failed to trouble the scorer and with Turner and Harding going cheaply Hartfield collapsed to 55 for 6. Only Mike Brunsdon looking comfortable scoring runs, going on to hit a personal best score of 80 not out. Sanders added some late fire power hitting 27 as Hartfield set Southbourne a score of 169 to chase.

In reply Southbourne got off to a steady start with Sewell making 29 and McMahon hitting 40. After 20 over Southbourne look set for Victory. The turning point of the match was the run out of Panwar by Sanders. Having survived being dropped the ball before his luck run out and after his batting partner struck a fierce drive that was heading for the boundary, the driving Sanders dived and managed to stick a hand out diverting to ball onto the stumps, leaving Panwar well out of his crease backing up. Some tight balling at the death by Emery saw Hartfield home by 7 runs.
