Health and Safety Update 2012
Leicester Hockey Club (LHC) adheres to the England Hockey Safeguarding and Protecting Young People Policy (www.englandhockey.co.uk). The Club Welfare Officer is Neil Murray. If you have any comments or concerns you wish to bring to his attention please email email@example.com.
The Club Rules and Standards Relating to Pitchside Conduct are available at www.leicesterhockeyclub.co.uk. There is also a Code of Conduct for Parents\Guardians. In particular, a parent\guardian should always be present during the training of primary-aged children. Please make the Coaches aware of any relevant medical conditions and ensure your child is equipped with shin pads and a mouth guard.
The Code of Conduct for Coaches, Club Officials and Volunteers is available at www.leicesterhockeyclub.co.uk. In particular, the Club have invested heavily in supporting members to complete coaching and umpiring courses to help create a suitable environment in which to develop young players to an elite standard. LHC Volunteers are bound by the England Hockey Code of Ethics and Behaviour (the Club Equity Policy Statement is available on the Club website). All LHC training is supervised by a Club member who has undergone a Criminal Records Bureau check.
The Club Emergency, Incident or Accident Policies are available on the Club website. In particular, there is always a First Aid Pack available during training. The landline in the Pavilion is available to call for an ambulance (the barrier to the pitches is never locked to allow access). Hockey does involve contact and injuries will occur irrespective of the efforts such as rule changes we make to minimise injuries (sometimes players just feel ill). We will contact a parent\family in these circumstances. LHC pay for basic insurance cover using a policy recommended by England Hockey but this does not cover Personal Accident.
LHC has a formal long-term agreement with Leicester Grammar School. We have excellent access to some of the best hockey facilities in the UK including a water-based pitch, sand-based pitch, indoor sports-hall, changing rooms and hospitality facilities. Hockey activity takes place all year with a focus on preparing young players for participation in the sport.
