When the final whistle blows and applause breaks out from both sets of spectators, you know something special has happened... a really enjoyable game had just taken place with Mellor running out 9-4 winners
These games are NOT about the score – they’re a chance for boys to wear the club kit and play “ real” opposition.
Mellor, fielding 12 boys from the age 7 to 9 went one nil down, but never trailed after that.
A terrific team effort, Jack made a couple of big saves in goal and cleared well, the other boys all rotated in all positions, and out fought Stockport from first whistle to last
The boys made a great account of themselves – they’re a chatty bunch to say the least but, come game time, they knuckle down and should be very proud of their performance.
A big thanks to our friends at Stockport for arranging this – we’ll return the favour in the New Year but this is a great way for the boys to get used to real game scenarios
