U12s finish the season in style at Flags Finals

Impressive team performance to bring home the U12 Plate - WELL DONE BOYS!

This Under 12s team is a little bit special! Under John's guidance they've plugged away quietly all season obliterating the club goal scoring record and only coming up short on 2 occasions in a 25 game season. One of these was against Timperley which saw us move into the Plate Final today against a sizeable squad from Cheadle Hulme and Norbury.

With Charlie Hodgson taken ill overnight and Eddie Liles still visiting German Castles the boys arrived to warm up against a 21 man opposition - the nerves jangled, especially John's as we questioned what they'd been feeding them since we last played!

A shaky start saw us fall behind and the game was nip and tuck in the early stages with their excellent Number 13 causing us problems when in possession.

But there's some real talent in our team. Finn started to pull the strings - he won every face off today and created a large proportion of our opportunities. Sammie, always in space, started to show some belief and James Kennedy set about peppering their goal with some fine finishes. It fell to James Smith to take care of their key man and he did do admirably once he realised that man marking in Lacrosse is a little more intimate than football!

Theo worked tirelessly all game - never scared to take on a player and superb in ground ball. Miles Plant, after a slow start, seemed to benefit from his self induced half time picnic, to score some wonderful solo efforts. Robbie left his mark as a good defender should although spent some key moments warming the bench after some strong checks - he's certainly one player that will relish the shift to long pole in the U14s next year!

Much credit has to be given to the younger players as these boys will still be in U12's next year. Seb sadly had a goal ruled out for a crease violation, Cameron got his eye in for his first finals goal and Sammie, once he realised he could, started to cause real problems up front.

Miles Qualter, majestic in midfield, showed ability beyond his years. His positioning and decision making was brilliant from start to finish. Ollie took 2 big hits in the game with Simon eventually taking a trip to the first aid tent with Sunday's all important cricket game in mind.

I don't know who scored all of the goals, neither do I recall who set them up or how many saves Fredrick made. but this was a fabulous end to a fabulous season and all of you owe John a pint at Presentation Night! Well done Boys!
