Another Tough Day at the Office for NEAB

Defeat at White Rose Avenue was the last thing that Jack Stearman wanted this season however; in freezing conditions at NEABs that’s exactly what the travelling Kings Cross Park.

The thermometers were at 0.5C when the game kicked off at 2pm and both teams suffered cold hands in the opening minutes. 5mins in NEAB were down by four as Kings Cross went over in the corner. The touchline conversion missed 0-4. Having defended 3 sets on their own line it would be Kings Cross to go over again with a shift move from right to left allowing them to score on the edge of the pitch. The touchline conversion again was missed, 0-8. The All Blacks then woke up. Good defence followed by confident play saw the New Earswick go close however, this was short lived. Non-completion of sets were the order of the day for the home team once again as the ball fell from hands and passes missed targets.

Half time 0-8.

NEAB came out the second half knowing that the game was still within their reach with one converted try would put them to almost level. The journeymen were the first to find points in the second half though with a converted score, 0-14 after 48mins.

Kings Cross would then score twice more before NEAB would get off the mark. Pete Richie opening his account for the season with good power and even better grounding with 2 defenders trying to turn him over. The conversion missed 4-24.

NEAB would have the last say in the match with Man of the Match Jack Carling powering over. The conversion missed making it 8-24 after 68mins. It would stay that way until the end, a tough time for the All Blacks which now leave them bottom of the Pennine Championship after 5 games played.
