Last Saturday Cents took on league leaders Newbury at home and ended up losing their seasons home record.Newbury are the current unbeaten league leaders and they showed why in a very good team performance against a good home team.Cents knew they had been beaten by a better team on the day but if they had converted their periods of pressure into points then the score might have been different. In essence the main difference between the teams was that Newbury took their chances and defended well under pressure.Cents showing 5 changes to the team that beat Marlborough away a couple of weeks before, played well but did not quite have the answer to Newburys free running game and with their lineout struggling were always up against it.
Cents scored two tries through Lewis May and Nathan Stroud plus Wayne Mulhern converted one of the tries and as stated overall Cents should be pleased by their performance but were beaten by a better side who must fancy their chances of attaining promotion at the first attempt back into the South West Premier Division.
