Late score again gives Cents victory.

By

Cents left it late to win at Witney.

Cents travelled to Witney at the weekend and like all recent previous encounters away from the Stade de Bridge they were made to work hard for a victory. The last five encounters between our two sides have been close affairs and this Saturday was no different with the match being settled in Cents favour in the last five minutes of the match.
Cents travelled away with seven changes to their match day squad from the previous weeks loss to Newbury and in all 25 players have been used in the last three match day squads for the team.It appears from Witney's match report that they had the same problem as Cents and this led to an exciting match the best seen at the home sides ground this season so far.
Cents won the match but made too many mistakes to fully control the match and these errors came about because the home side had a strong rush defence that never allowed the away side time on the ball. The mistakes from both sides led to an exciting match and ran true to form in our matches being close run affairs
Cents were quick out the blocks going 14-0 up within 12 minutes after scoring tries through Nathan Stroud and Rob Winchle with Wayne Mulhern converting both tries.By half time the home side had clawed back the score to 14-10 to Cents and the half had been full of errors plus good end to end play although Cents should have been further ahead but weren't because of all their errors.
At the start of the second half Witney went 14-17 in front, then Cents went 26-17 in front after scoring tries through Ben Ellis and Rob Winchle Mulhern converting one of the tries.Going into the last five minutes Witney led 26-27 until Lewis May scored the match winning unconverted try to give Cents victory at 31-27.
All in all Cents were more than happy to come away with a try scoring bonus point win after a disjointed performance.Although Witney caused Cents a lot of problems in defence which caused the away sides errors.Cents travel to Oxford Harlequins next weekend and this is a venue were we have struggled, last season they did the double over us quite easily.Lets hope Cents are able to pick from a fully fir squad of players
