Welcome to the Whitgiftians Junior Rugby U16 Team Page.

Our Under 16 Squad trains Tuesday and Thursday nights (we ask players to train at least one night a week) and plays every Sunday. We are a warm inclusive club with a good social side and welcome players of all abilities or backgrounds. We have two teams in our squad - one for more experienced players and one for new or developing players - there is progression between the teams and all players play matches. Our emphasis is always on fun and small sided games designed to help players develop the skills they will need to play Rugby successfully. We major on values such as teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportmanship. We try our best not to subject players to Rugby ‘drills’ and our emphasis is on fun and enjoyment as we want our players to really get the Rugby bug!

We play matches on Sundays (and the odd Friday night under floodlights) where both our teams play other clubs in friendlies and Waterfall Cup matches tailored to meet the playing ability of our squads. For each match we have a post match meal and ask the opposition to present a trophy to our player of the days (we do the same for them). We have an induction programme for players new to Rugby to help them to learn and enjoy the game from day one. We also go abroad on Rugby Tour each year!
