Our final away game of the season, this Saturday, which will see The Main head to AFC New Fordley, who play at Annitsford Welfare, (NE23 7RB) for the usual 2:30 kick off.
The sides met at Purvis Park on 29th September last year in a largely (and very unusual for us) pretty dour 0-0 draw, hopefully this weekend's game will provide better entertainment.
Last time we travelled to New Fordley was for the final game of our 1st division championship winning season, almost 4 years ago (18th April '15) when the home side played at the Willie John Sams Centre (don't go there this week!) and Percy came away with a 1-0 win thanks to Micky Haley's 68th minute header from a Curtis Miller free kick.
4 players remain in the Percy Main squad that started that game, Rob Rodgerson, Rob Watson, Redmond Cockburn and Adam Green.
Fordley who sit a place above us in the table, but having played 3 games fewer, have a few ex Main men in their ranks, including the McCreedy brothers, Ian Lee who figured for us over 10 years ago, Nicky Whitelaw who has played a game apiece for the sides, the sensible Dean Ellis and the not so sensible Jordan Miller.....
Who can forget that home game during the 2013-14 season when we were 3-1 down to Northbank Carlisle and going into the final minutes were seemingly dead and buried.....
Yet Miller popped up with a brilliant couple of goals in injury time to save the day and rescue a highly unlikely point........and got himself sent off.....
Should be a canny game tomorrow anyway, get along to support if you're able!
Refreshments on site along with the post match grub.....
