Eoin Casey’s late 85th minute goal handed a 1-0 victory to The Scholars against high flying, promotion placed, Bowers and Pitsea.
As expected Bowers started well and were finding great success with balls over the top for their midfield and forward runners. Fahad Nyanja was played in by Ben Sartain, but his shot was saved and Knight’s follow up was blocked.
With 20 minutes gone, the away side came close to taking the lead, as a long ball over the top put in the dangerous Sartain but his lob came back off the crossbar to Knight who fired over from close range.
Bar’s best chance of the first half fell to Michael Murray but the striker uncharacteristically failed to find the target.
The second half was much the same as the first, with both sides struggling to master the difficult weather conditions or create much in the way of chances as the wind strengthened and the rain intensified.
With the game looking to end in stalemate up popped top scorer Eoin to tap home after an original Potters Bar effort had rebounded off the post.
Bowers and Pitsea made late changes in a desperate effort to salvage something from the match which almost paid off in time added on as a strike from Sartain was headed off the line as the Bar defence held on for another clean sheet.
