1st XI Match Report - Saturday 12th May - Home vs Chesham

Home Counties Premier Cricket League Division 2

The mood was good ahead of the clash against Chesham. The warm up went well, Pam didn’t get injured during the game of football, then he won the toss and elected to bowl first.

However, the new ball went to all parts and we were staring down the barrel of 300+. Then Harris struck with a smart catch at midwicket from Cross. The introduction of Shaun Miller proved a good move from Sanklecha and struck with a wicket to remove the opener with a good catch from Norgrove.

Chesham were then reduced to 74-3 after a Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker combination got Shipton back in the game.

Then it went horribly wrong. The Chesham batters took our attack to all parts, with a brief glimmer of hope when Wood took two wickets in two balls. Chesham finished with 260 for 6.

We played “Pasty Roulette” at lunch, Pam was lucky he chose well with a Cheese and Onion.

The Shipton innings started nicely, Wood cover driving through the covers for four, but then being cleaned up by a winter transfer target of Warner.

With Charlie Miller, Sanklecha and the return of Tim Senior the only players to reached double figures, the fragile batting line-up was exposed and Shipton we bowled out for 120.

Fines were re-introduced to try and raise the spirits - we may be relegated by the end of June, but we shall enjoy a good drink. Onwards and upwards, keep smiling chaps, things can only get better (When Pam can bowl more than 9 overs)
