A 'topsy turvey' affair

Swans vs. Lions proved a 'topsy turvey' affair. Both teams went into the half time break level on points with the Lions feeling relieved to hear the siren after the Swans hit their stride playing some really nice footy.

The half time talk was pretty positive, it was ours for the taking! Or so we thought...

After a good initial ball up, we went quiet and slack marking gave the Lions an opportunity to play through the middle. They took full advantage, coupled with not playing the whistle, we gave away several soft goals. Things were looking pretty bleak as we barely made it onto the scoreboard.

Last quarter with our backs to the wall, we upped it a notch. Good fitness, and all out attack meant for a high scoring final quarter. We played some of our best footy of the year! Keeping the Lions to just one score in the final quarter, we had too many behinds and not enough six pointers from easy kicks meant this was a game that we let slip away!

The Lions pipped us by a mere ten points, 10-10 to 8-12.

It wasn’t all bad, the lads headed back up to Kilkenny for the Swans annual footy trip. So we wore our shit shirts and drank our sorrows away.
