Daniels Suffer Second Half Disaster
Stamford suffered a heavy defeat on the road as Frickley scored four second half goals to condemn the Daniels to a second successive loss.
The Daniels started brightly with Jake Duffy and John Sands having shots at goal in the first couple of minutes, although neither forced Hugo Warhurst into a save in the Frickley goal.
The home side had their first chance after five minutes when Sam Liversidge had an effort just wide of Dan Haystead’s goal. The first shot either keeper had to save came after 9 minutes when Todd Jordan forced Haystead into a save that the Daniels keeper easily dealt with.
As the half continued both sides had efforts on goal but nothing that worried either goalkeeper. Stamford best effort came after good interchange between John Sands and Ryan Seal saw Rob Morgan burst into the box but his effort was saved by Warhurst.
The Daniels took the lead with the last action of the first half, Rob Morgan passed the ball to Ollie Brown-Hill and from 25 yards slotted the ball through the Frickley defence and past the stranded keeper.
Stamford started brightly in the second half with Jake Duffy have a shot saved by Warhurst.
The home side got themselves level after 66 minutes when the ball was lifted over the Daniels back line to Jacob Hazel and the Frickley captain managed to hold off Mike Armstrong and then lifted the ball over the stranded Dan Haystead.
Frickley then took the lead a few minutes later when again a ball over the top caught the Daniels back line out and Hazel got his shot away but Haystead managed to parry the shot but only to Tyler Walton who slotted the ball into an empty net.
Stamford tried to react and get back into the game but no one could force a save out of Warhurst.
With time running out and Stamford looking for an equaliser, the home side got a third. A free-kick from the Frickley left was crossed in to Anthony Wilson who controlled the ball and with his back to goal volleyed the ball up and with an overhead kick slotted it into the top corner of the goal.
It got worse for Stamford in injury time when Hazel picked the ball on the left and he cut in along the bye line and the Frickley forward slotted the ball between Haystead’s legs.
