Stowmarket 2nds traveled to Colchester with a team full of young potential and a few older heads thrown in. The game started as quite a scrappy affair, probably to be expected first game of the season, and after a few missed tackles in the middle of the field Colchester were first to score with a try in the corner. This seemed the kick in the teeth that stow needed with them dominating play for most of the game after that. Stows first points came from putting pressure on Colchester on their try line leading to them fumbling the ball and Joe Lancaster scoring. Stow were to score again soon after, with great work on the wing leading to Casha receiving the final pass to score his first senior try for the club, half time 12-5.
2nd half carried on just like the first with stows forwards carrying hard to give the backs plenty of time and space to work their magic. Julian Turner was next on the scoreboard with a try in the corner, with Casha pulling the strings at fly half it wasn't long before the next try. After a delightful chip from Casha, Scott Woolnough was first to the ball to score.
Colchester managed to get the ball back and build up their own phases only for the ball to be fumbled, with Scott picking up the loose ball and breaking through with Sai yavala in support to finish off. Stows last score came pretty much straight from the kick off, Casha again kicking behind the Colchester defense and Lief Bjornsen showing his pace to be first to the ball and score in the corner. Colchester did manage to score a consolation try to make the final score 36-10
Special mention to the guys playing their first senior games for stow, Ben cribb, Matt boulton, Jack Wilson, Ali mason
