Another Trojan picks up an award

The Brian Short Memorial Trophy

The Hampshire RFU AGM on the 11th July saw Tom Nixon of Trojans Under 18s get presented with the prestigious Brian Short Memorial Trophy. This is awarded to a young Hampshire player who epitomises the spirit of Hampshire rugby: not necessarily the best player but one who put in the effort and was a team player
The Citation Read -
Tom Nixon, who has played for Trojan's since he was 8, captained the U17 and U18 Hampshire County side with true leadership. He galvanised the squad both on and off the field helping to create a one team attitude; gaining respect and support from all as he grew into the role. Winning every game in this selection season, Tom often had to rally the team in the second half to secure spectacular wins, ensuring he always led from the front. Not being the biggest of second rows, his personal determination to secure and steal ball in the line out, his work rate about the park and in contact demonstrated his real rugby skill. He was unlucky not to be selected for England Counties having made Regional trials but remains a real credit to his club, County and the true spirit of a team player.
Well Done Tom
