Westgate batted first and posted 210-5 with Andreas Arestidou top scoring with 69 runs. Sam Calverley was Heysham's top wicket taker with figures of 3-65.
In reply, Heysham worked really hard to reach the target with three balls remaining. Andy Powers starred with the bat scoring 69 runs, while Westgate's Peter Wilson took impressive figures of 4-57.
After the entertainment on Friday, the two sides met again on Saturday at Cross Hill Park.
Westgate won the toss and elected to bat on another fantastic wicket. The in-form batsmen Craig Buchanan (25) and Andy Hill (38) got the ball rolling towards a big total.
Arestidou then hit nine boundaries on his way to 69 off 53 balls and with support from Sam Frith with five boundaries in his 36 off 25 balls and Dylan Conroy 15 n. o. took the total to a strong looking 210-5.
The Heysham reply was in a mess at 25 - 4 with Dylan Conroy (3-53) taking 3 early wickets. Jamie Antcliffe (29) and Andy Powers (69) then added 80 to start the run chase.
Veteran Wilson took 4-57 in a fine bowling performance before Sam Calverley completed a brilliant all round effort with 57 n. o.
The equation came down to the last over, with five to win and the last man, Ashton Ward, on strike. Ward held his nerve hitting the third ball for the winning boundary as another thrilling game of cricket came to a conclusion.
Heysham came away with 15 points and now trail the champions by only two points.
