It is first against second this weekend when Knaresborough face Eccleshill United at Manse Lane. It will our first league game since our 4-0 home win over Retford a couple of weeks ago due to the wet weather. We currently have a 15 point lead over Eccleshill with Grimsby Borough 3 points further behind with all teams having played 35 games. So the game will have a big bearing on the automatic promotion outcome.
We played on Thursday when a much changed team put up a great display when losing 4-2 to Handsworth Parramore from the Premier division.
Goals from Nick Black and Dan Clayton had given us a 2-0 lead but we were unable to hold.
Eccleshill played their game in hand midweek and had a 1-1 draw away at Winterton as they conceded an injury time equaliser. Luke Harrop was their scorer on the night. Eccleshill have only lost once in their last 6 matches but have drawn 3 of them which has allowed us to extend the gap between us at the top of the table. Our previous encounter in the league back in November was our first defeat of the season. Eccleshill were excellent on the day and deserved their 5-2 win against us. Goals from Brad Walker and Will Lenehan got our goals on the day.
We go into this weekends match on a great run of form and it should be a great game with plenty to play for. Lets get a big crowd down to support the team.
