The Wellmen will be hoping for three points on Saturday to kick start their league season as the Season didn’t start too well last weekend following a disappointing 3-0 defeat at home to Ruthin Town. It was a poor result and wasn’t the start that Gareth Sudlow had hoped to his managerial career for the Wellmen.
But we move on and welcome Penrhyncoch to Halkyn Road and all will be hoping for a victory and three points against the mid Wales side. Manager Gareth Sudlow will name his side just before kick off, but he will be without Connor Littler who is unavailable and Jonathon Jones who serves his 2nd match of a 3 match ban. Striker Damian Ketley (Pictured) will be hoping to get on the score sheet to open his account for his new side. The Wellmen welcome back Danny Desormeaux who missed last week’s game against Penrhyncoch.
Manager Gareth Sudlow told the Evening Leader, “It wasn’t the start of the season that we wanted and I felt we paid the price for a 20 minutes spell in the first half where we struggled to get near Ruthin Town.
They’ve capitalised and put three past us before we’ve managed to assert ourselves properly in the game. We were better in the second half though, and I feel there are definitely positives to take into the Penrhyncoch game. We want to give our supporters something to cheer about and hopefully we can kickstart some good form at home which is important.
To do that, were going to have to match the workrate of a solid Penrhyncoch side. I know Gari will set his team up to be well-organised and tough to break down, so we’ll have to offer more of an attacking threat than last week to get the result.”
Like the Wellmen, Penrhyncoch lost their first game of the season last weekend against Porthmadog and earlier in the week, Penrhyncoch Manager Gari Lewis told the local press, “ “Porthmadog are a very good side, they deserved to be ahead at half time, but I was really proud of our boys for their performance in the second half,” he said.
“At half-time we told them to believe in themselves, and be more aggressive, and we gave it a really good go. Had we got one back, then it may have been different.
“It was disappointing to concede two goals from set-pieces as I thought we defended them well for much of the game.
“But with us having one of our friendlies cancelled in the pre-season, and with a few of the boys being away, we are looking a bit under-cooked at the moment.
“We will work hard in training on Tuesday night, before we go again at Holywell on Saturday. It’s another tough game, but they are all tough games in this league.”

The match kick’s off at 2.30pm and with both sides looking for that elusive first win of the season, it promises to be a good game so please make every effort to come down to Halkyn Road to hopefully cheer the lads onto victory.
