Westoe travel to face Consett
Following their comprehensive performance against Medicals, Lookers sponsored South Shields Westoe face a tougher test this Saturday.
Sitting second and third in the table, with equal points from four wins from five, this match is gearing up to be a close fight. Last season found both sides victorious on home ground sharing the points available.
Westoe need to retain their coal-face defence as this could be decided on one missed tackle or mistake. Currently holding the best defence stats in the league, Westoe still need to remain patient and maintain composure and focus throughout the game in both defence and, more importantly attack.
By trusting in the workload of their pack and sticking to the basics, Westoe are capable of beating everyone in this league; however they must ensure that they refrain from the hurried, long looping passes that have cost them dearly so far this season.
Strong direct running, quick hands and a slick offloading game will penetrate any defence and see Westoe progress throughout the year.
Westoe welcome back John Younghusband and Sean Ramsay into the pack, with Adam Snellor starting on the bench and Paul Evans slotting into the centres, where his vision and pace should cause Consett some problems.
Chris Judson starts at scrum-half, Grant Parkin fills the wing spot and Carlin Moseley comes onto the bench for his team debut.
