Lookers sponsored South Shields Westoe travel to Ponteland this week for their re-arranged fixture, postponed due to the weather. With Ponteland sitting towards the bottom of the table and Westoe’s current form, seeing them go ten matches without a defeat, this should be a victory for the Shields side.
Westoe need, however, to ensure they prepare well and stick to their game-plan as results throughout the season have shown that all sides in the league are capable of upsets.
With only five games remaining in the season, Westoe sit in third place and firmly in contention for another top two finish.
The inevitable issue of availability over the Easter period sees a number of changes to the side.
Westoe see a new second-row of Adam Sneller and Graeme Smith, who will provide a solid platform in the set. Joe McKenzie returns from his brief spell at centre to his usual position of open side.
Connor Pascoe moves from Full-back to his preferred position of Scrum-half. Jamie Preston returns at Centre and Richard Burrows is available again at Full-back.
The last meeting was a convincing 54–7 win for Westoe; however the first half was a much closer affair (19-7) and Westoe will need to have patience in breaking down the plucky Ponteland side.
Kick-off is 3.00pm
