Westoe v West Hartlepool
South Shields Westoe face a stern test against newly relegated West Hartlepool at Wood Terrace this Saturday. Recent years have seen relegated sides competing well at this level and West Hartlepool kicked off their season with a convincing win against Novos, so this is gearing up to be a close run affair.
Captain Andrew Kirton has received scan results on his knee and unfortunately will be needing surgery and could be out until Christmas. Joe McKenzie is also still unavailable with a broken hand.
Following last week’s promising performance, the coaches have named an un-changed eighteen this week, which contains power and pace enough to worry any opposition.
Westoe had a resounding victory against Medicals last week and will be looking to repeat their domination up front to release their pacey back-line and go for a second five-point win.
This season’s league looks to be tighter than ever with potentially eight teams fighting for the promotion spot, so consistency throughout the year is essential. Westoe need to retain concentration and focus and ensure that they adapt to law interpretations on the day.
Kick-off is at 3.00pm at Westoe’s Wood Terrace ground.
The West Nautical sponsored Development team travel to Novos for an early 12.30 kick-off, to accommodate Novos Ladies.
