South Shields Westoe travel to Ponteland this Saturday looking for a repeat performance of last week’s victory over rivals Stockton. The Shieldsmen started the New Year in tremendous form beating quality opponents and a similar performance this week should bring home a five-point win.
Westoe beat Ponteland by 52-6 in the home fixture; however it was a much closer affair last season at Ponteland’s ground. Ponteland are currently sitting near the foot of the league and as such could be dangerous as they fight to avoid the relegation battle come April.
Westoe field a strong side with a powerful pack and a back-line full of individual talent.
Anthony Rumis returns to the second row and Mikel Tate makes his season debut on the wing.
A strong bench contains last week’s Man-of-the-match Haydn Richards, Mark Wilson and a second outing for returning captain Andrew Kirton.
Kick off is 2.15pm at Ponteland Leisure Centre, Callerton Lane, NE20 9EG
