South Shields Westoe travel south this weekend to face old rivals, Barnard Castle. The last few seasons have seen some exiting, close and ferocious encounters between the sides; however this year Westoe managed a 47-15 home victory over Castle at Wood Terrace.
A regular top three finisher, Castle have slipped slightly this season; however will still provide a strong threat at home and Westoe will need to maintain their recent run of good form to come away with the much needed five points.
Westoe stick with the same powerful pack that have provided a great attacking platform of late and have a talented back-line to provide the flair and speed out wide.
Ross Macauley returns at fly-half after being sidelined with HIA protocols, allowing Jake Arnold to drop to the fullback position and Matt Rannigan to the wing. Luke Moffett also makes a welcome return after serving a few weeks off for a red card.
The side is completed with a quality bench of Richards, McKenzie and Judson; all dangerous players and full of experience.
Kick-off is 2.15 and there is a bus leaving the clubhouse at 11.30 with limited space for any spectators wishing to travel.
The development team travel to Consett for a tough fixture and look to build on last weekend’s victory against Blythe. Also a 2.15 kick-off
